Tata harrier

This Tata Harrier was involved in a high-speed accident and despite the airbags not opening up, it saved the lives of passengers.

While there is no safety crash test done on the Tata Harrier, we all know the build quality of the SUV. Most of the Tata cars have received 4-star and 5-star safety rating including Tiago, Tigor, Nexon and Altroz. This accident of Harrier shows the safety of the car despite having major damages.

This Tata Harrier lost control while going over high speed and swerved so hard that it toppled a couple of times. Finally, the car was found upside-down with serious damage to the car. The passengers inside the car escaped with a couple of scratches and nothing else. Also, they escaped without the airbags opening up.

First of all, for airbags to open the impact needs to come from the front. In this case, there is no damage to the front or near the airbag sensors. Further, you can see that the A-Pillar is completely damaged with the driver side receiving the maximum damage. The bonnet, roof and side fenders have been crumpled.

If you see, the tyres are still in shape and towards the rear passengers, the damage is low. Front and rear windscreen have been shattered completely. This shows us the immense build quality and safety that Tata Harrier will give its buyers. We have seen even more cases with the Nexon. In one case, an electric pole fell on top of a Nexon and the passengers still managed to leave without any major injuries.

The modei in question is the pre-facelifted model and a mid-spec trim with dual airbags. Earlier this year, Tata launched the Harrier facelift with BS6 compliant engine. It got the same 2.0 Litre turbo-diesel unit but now produces 170 PS instead of 140 PS. Also, Tata now offers an automatic gearbox along with the SUV.
