Japanese automobile giant Toyota is reportedly planning on launching a facelifted version of its executive sedan, the Camry. The mid-lifecycle facelift, which was showcased at the Moscow Motor Show in November this year, will come with a revised front, slightly tweaked rear and updated interiors. As can be made out from the handful of new Camry images we have here, the updated model looks far sportier than the current car, which is saying a lot because the current model is easily among the more modern looking sedans in the D segment. Here, in this post, we’ve come up with Toyota Camry Facelift India launch details, along with all the important information on the new model. Check it out!

What’s New?

The styling of the Toyota Camry will be tweaked slightly to bring it in line with the company’s current design language, much like that of the Corolla. Here’s what’s new on the updated model –

  • New headlamps with daytime running LEDs.
  • New grille outlined by a strip of chrome at the top.
  • Redesigned front bumper with sharper styling and chrome accents.
  • New alloy wheel design
  • Redesigned tail-lamps with LEDs.
  • Thinner chrome strip integrated with the tail-light splitting it into two parts.
  • Redesigned rear bumper.
  • Dual tail pipes.
  • New 3 spoke multi-function steering wheel
  • Blue backlight for the instrument cluster
  • Larger 4.2 inch screen

No mechanical changes are expected and the Toyota Camry facelift will carry the same set of engines, namely- a 179 bhp 2.5 litre petrol with a 6 speed automatic gearbox and a 202 bhp 2.5 litre hybrid motor with a CVT(automatic) gearbox, that are offered with the current model.

The Camry was launched in India in 2012 and since then Toyota has manged to move 1,360 units of which 579 are of the Hybrid version. The lack of diesel option is no doubt hurting sales but not that much since a diesel version would roughly cost the same as the Hybrid and will not be as efficient. In terms of competition, the Toyota Camry facelift not only has to put up with the Skoda Superb and Hyundai Sonata but also vehicles by more aspirational brands such as the Audi A3 and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA. Then there are the SUVs which we Indians absolutely love, such as Toyota’s own, the Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V, BMW X1, Audi Q3, etc.
