Toyota Innova Vs Mahindra XUV500

Check out this quick drag race between Toyota Innova and Mahindra XUV500 to check out which one is quicker. On paper, XUV500 is more powerful.

We all know the power and capabilities of Mahindra XUV500, as it is one of the best in its segment. The new generation XUV500 is on its way and will be launched towards the start of next year. It is also very reliable and long lasting as owners are now towards 9-10 years of ownership. Talking further about reliability and long lasting cars, we also have the Toyota Innova on the other side.

Here is a quick drag race between both the cars to check which one is faster. Note, we do not encourage such races on public roads and strongly discourage people to do it without any supervision. Moving ahead, we have the Innova Crysta with a 2.8 Litre diesel engine, that produces 173 PS and 360 Nm of torque. Mahindra XUV500 gets a 2.2 Litre diesel engine that is good for 155 PS and 360 Nm.

In the first attempt, you can see Innova racing ahead swiftly and catching up on an early lead. Innova wins the race by a huge difference. The second round says exactly why you should avoid doing in on public roads. The truck on the opposite direction forces Innova to change lanes and come in front of XUV500. As a result, the launch of Mahindra XUV500 is delayed and again, Innova wins the race.

Innova wins the race clearly because it is nearly 200 kilograms lighter than XUV500 and boasts of a higher torque-to-weight ratio. Also, on paper, they get the same torque figures, but the MPV is nearly 20 PS more powerful. Even in the top speed run, Innova would be the clear winner, but XUV500 would be more stable. That because of the body shape and excess kerb weight.

Due to the BS6 norms, the petrol engine of XUV500 was discontinued. Even the AT variants were discontinued, but were recently relaunched. The new gen XUV500 will get a complete makeover, sit on a new platform and have better handling characteristics. Also expected are more powerful diesel and petrol engines under the hood. Following XUV500, we will also see the launch of new generation Scorpio.
