In the latest bizarre instance, a train gets stuck in a traffic jam in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. We know that Indian roads are home to some of the most weird experiences in the world. One can’t truly anticipate what lies around the next corner. That is also the reason why driving in India is extremely tough. While there are rules and regulations in place, not everyone follows them all the time. The situation in areas outside the main metro cities is particularly concerning. This is a prime example of that. Let us take a look at the reason why a train is in a traffic jam.

Train Stuck in Traffic Jam in Varanasi

This video clip comes from thetatvaindia on Instagram. It captures a helpless traffic policeman trying his best to manage the vehicles. Amidst the chaos, one sees a train waiting for the traffic to clear up. Since India has an extensive road and rail network, there are many railway crossings which are unmanned. Here, people like to do whatever they please. This congestion is a consequence of that mindset. No one wants to stop and let the train pass. As a result, the train has come to a standstill.

The train driver is honking to let people know that it wants to pass through. But the people are not bothered at all. The traffic cop is trying to perform his duty by enabling the jam to open up. He is evidently struggling to control the traffic flow. You feel bad for the guy. The locals make things worse and completely disregard the traffic regulations and protocols. That is what leads to situations like these. Also, this is not an isolated incident. Such cases take place on a daily basis.

What We Think

It is high time we start taking traffic laws seriously. We lose thousands of lives each year in road crashes. The most common reasons for these include overspeeding and refusal to follow traffic laws. We must encourage everyone around us to follow regulations at all costs and in all scenarios and prevent overspeeding. That is the only way we could make our roads safer than they are at the moment. Also, if you find someone flouting the rules, make sure to report them to the authorities so that proper action could be taken against them.
