TVS Radeon beats Honda Dream and Bajaj Discover 110 in January sales

TVS Radeon has recorded a better sales figure than Honda Dream and Bajaj Discover 110. However, it is still much behind the Hero Splendor series.

TVS launched its new commuter motorcycle Radeon last year. The 110cc bike was launched as a premium commuter, which some jazzed up styling bits and fuel efficient engine. It goes for Rs 48,400 (ex-showroom).

Being in the market for nearly 6 months now, it is showing positive sales figures. For the month of January 2019, it made around 17577 units. The monthly sales grew by 70%, posting 11882 units for December 2018.

TVS Motors aims to sell 2 Lakh units of Radeon every year, which roughly makes it to 16000 units per month. The figures sound reasonable and the TVS bike is already on the target.

TVS Radeon competes with the likes of Hero Splendor Plus, Splendor Pro, Honda Dream Yuga, CD Dream and Bajaj Discover 110. These bikes are placed in the premium commuter motorcycles under 110cc.

As we all know, the Splendor series is the best selling motorcycle of India. However, in this segment, Radeon falls second, leaving Dream and Discover 110 much behind in the monthly sales.

For the month of January 2019, Honda sold 3276 units of Dream. Bajaj Auto sold 4165 units of Discover. On the other hand, Hero sold more than 2 Lakh units of Splendor in a month!

TVS Radeon is a stylish commuter which a decent feature list at an attractive price. It gets a 110cc Duralife engine, that is capable of delivering 8.4 BHP and 8.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed torque.

Reports suggest that the TVS commuter is a fuel efficient motorcycle, delivering an estimated average of 70 kmpl. With a fuel tank capacity of 10 litres, we can expect the riding range of about 700 kms.

Features onboard include a large cushion seat, LED DRLs, USB charging slot, chrome covered silencer, side stand indicator and flexible turn signal lamps. Radeon also gets the longest wheelbase and tallest ground clearance in the segment.

For braking purposes, it uses drum brakes at both the ends with Synchronized Braking System (CBS). Radeon uses telescopic forks at the front and 5-Step Adjustable Shock Absorber at the back.
