The GST rate reduction has benefitted the end customers, whether it is due to the price cuts of cars or auto components
After the recent announcement regarding the new GST reforms, Uno Minda Limited Aftermarket has declared price revisions across its portfolio. This is in line with many car companies, auto component players and car accessories firms. This festive season is buzzing with the government’s decision to reduce GST on hundreds of items. In essence, this move aims to boost local consumption and increase demand in the market. This will, in turn, prove to be beneficial for the economy. For now, let us take a look at the details of this case.
Uno Minda Reduces Prices After New GST Norms
The GST Council has recently revised tax rates across several product categories, and this move is now impacting the auto sector. Vehicle prices have already been adjusted, and now the auto parts and accessories market is also making changes. UNO Minda Limited’s Aftermarket division has announced price revisions across its product range following the new GST structure. The company has confirmed that the entire benefit of the tax cut is being passed on to customers. These changes took effect on September 22, 2025. Under the new rules, several products that earlier attracted 28% GST will now be taxed at 18%.
Some items under the 18% slab have also been moved down to 5%. For UNO Minda, this means reduced prices across multiple categories. Products such as alloy wheels, batteries, CNG kits, and car mats are among those shifting from the 28% slab to 18%. The revisions are in line with recommendations from the 56th GST Council meeting. With the new rates in place, all UNO Minda product groups that earlier fell under the 28% tax bracket are now covered at 18%. This change is expected to make aftermarket products more affordable for customers.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Vishal Kaul, Business Head & President, Aftermarket Uno Minda Ltd. said, “We welcome the Government of India and the GST Council’s progressive step towards rationalizing tax rates. Passing on these benefits directly to our customers, particularly on products such as alloy wheels, batteries, car mats, CNG kits & other products on which the GST rate has been reduced from 28% to 18%, reflects our commitment to delivering technologically advanced, reliable, genuine, and performance-driven products at more affordable prices. This initiative not only supports the automotive ecosystem but also makes quality solutions more accessible, further driving sustainable industry growth.”
