UP Police Safety Advisory

We love it when our Police department comes up with humorous ways to caution road users about road safety.

The latest safety advisory of UP Police for two-wheeler users is quite funny. Lately, we have been witnessing the hilarious sides of our Police departments. This is particularly true for the traffic police. With the excessive usage of social media, the authorities often post hysterical information to make it easily digestible for the general public. That serves the purpose of raising awareness about the law while not being too serious about it. In a similar fashion, the UP Police came up with an interesting way to tell two-wheeler rides about the importance of wearing a helmet while riding.

UP Police Issues Safety Advisory

This post comes from _aani.k on Instagram. It captures the image of the official UP Police handle. The image shows the photo of Shah Rukh Khan in his role in the latest movie Jawan. He has a bandage wrapped around his face. Clearly, he is injured from something. Now, the details of this look can be justified after watching the movie. But he is in a serious condition. The UP Police put the photo of a helmet alongside SRK’s image. The post says, “Jawan ho ya budhe, two-wheeler par baithne se pehle, helmet kabhi na bhoole.”

This loosely translates to, “Whether you are young or old, don’t ever forget to wear a helmet before riding a two-wheeler”. That is a great way to raise awareness among the road commuters. Such funny advertisements stick to the minds of people quite easily. The message comes across in a more fun way which is often the best method. We wish to see the funny side of our Police authorities more often. People are afraid of the Police. But with such incidents, trust can be restored.

What We Think

We lose lakhs of lives in road accidents in India each year. It is high time we start becoming more responsible riders so that these casualties can be reduced drastically. Most crashes take place when people flout traffic rules. Not wearing a helmet is a common practice adopted by many two-wheeler riders. We must ensure that this is not the case going forward. If you find anyone doing this, make sure to report them to the authorities. The helmet could be the difference between life and death.
