The Indian auto giant has been in the Australian market since 2007
In this post, we shall take a look at the reasons why Australians love Mahindra cars. The Indian auto giant is expanding Down Under quite rapidly, particularly in the last few years. Ever since the launch of the Scorpio N and XUV700 in Australia, people have started getting mighty impressed with these products. As a consequence, the brand perception has been constantly evolving from the Pik-up Ute to new-age SUVs. Going forward, Mahindra will also launch the XUV3XO compact SUV in Australia in the coming months.
Why Australians Love Mahindra Cars?
This post stems from ARDwheels on YouTube. The host explains that Australia is one of the biggest markets in the world when it comes to pickup trucks (Utes) and SUVs. Also, there are remarks and reviews of Mahindra car owners in this video. Australia has a huge landmass with a very low population density. Hence, a major part of the country is barren due to extreme weather conditions. Nevertheless, it provides the perfect environment for adventure off-roading. In such scenarios, rugged pickup trucks and SUVs become critical. That is why Utes are so successful in Australia. The Mahindra Pik-up gained prominence for being affordable, reliable and rugged.
As a result, Mahindra has gone from having just 1 dealership in Australia back in 2007 to over 70 today. In fact, it hired the iconic Australian cricketer, Matthew Hayden, as a Brand Ambassador to work on marketing and brand building. With the addition of the Scorpio N and XUV700 to the lineup, Australians got the chance to experience the new breed of products from Mahindra. Despite offering tons of capabilities and features, these SUVs cost significantly less than their American or Japanese peers. Hence, Mahindra cars are gaining immense popularity Down Under in recent times. With the XUV3XO, it will be interesting to see how well the customers embrace it.
My View
Being an Indian, it swells my chest with pride to see Mahindra succeed in Australia. This is a testament to the quality of products it manufactures. Also, it validates the fact that Mahindra is capable of producing world-class products. I must also mention here that the future looks ever brighter with the new range of EVs based on the INGLO platform from Mahindra. Let us keep an eye out for how things pan out in this regard.
