Yamaha FZ V3 Vs Honda CB Hornet 160R – What’s the difference?

Yamaha FZ V3 Vs Honda CB Hornet 160R

Yamaha FZ V3 has been launched in India and is now the costliest bike in its segment. Here we put it against Honda CB Hornet 160R to see the difference.

Yamaha FZ V3 is now available in India, at a new price of Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). The new generation sees some visual upgrades and feature upgrades with addition of ABS.

FZ series falls in the much popular 150-160cc sporty commuter motorcycle segment. The bikes in this segment are priced near Rs 1 Lakh, starting from Rs 80,000.

Yamaha FZ V3 Vs Honda CB Hornet 160R

The competitors for Yamaha FZ V3 include Honda CB Hornet 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and Suzuki Gixxer. Here, we put it against Hornet 160R, the earlier costliest bike in this segment.

Honda CB Hornet 160R gets a 162cc air-cooled engine that puts out 14.9 BHP and 14.5 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

On the other hand, Yamaha FZ V3 sports a 149cc air-cooled fuel injected engine that puts out 13 BHP and 12.8 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed gearbox is also found on this bike.

Clearly, Hornet is more powerful than the Yamaha bike. There is a difference of nearly 2 BHP and 2 Nm of torque between both the bikes.

Talking about the dimensions, CB Hornet is a bit bigger than FZ V3. The length, width, height and the wheelbase is longer than FZ V3. However, Yamaha FZ V3 is lighter than Hornet, by 5 kgs.

The fuel tank capacity of FZ V3 is also a bit bigger than that of Hornet. The capacity of Hornet stands at 12 litres and that of FZ stands at 12.8 Litres.

Feature-wise, both the bikes have a similar list. Yamaha FZ V3 gets full LED headlamps, fully digital instrument cluster, single-channel ABS and a single seat.

2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R

Hornet has the exact same list just with an addition of hazard lights. So, here, both the bikes are at par.

The major difference between them is the pricing. Yamaha FZ V3 FI is priced at Rs 95,000 and FZ-S goes for Rs 97,000. Hornet 160R ABS is priced from Rs 91,682 to Rs 94,182 (ex-showroom).
