Nissan has announced that they will continue to sell Maruti Suzuki A-star under their brand name Nissan Pixo as they have been doing till 2012. Nissan will reconsider this agreement after the end of 2012. This news has come after the recent news of Volkswagen buying stake in Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan because of which Suzuki may not like to continue this contract post 2012.
There has been a recall of Maruti A-Star from both India and abroad due to Fuel Pump Leakage issue with A-star for which one lakh Maruti A-Star cars had been recalled and repaired. This might also be one of the possible reasons for this reconsideration by Nissan.
What will happen to the renewal of this deal will be clear only after 2 years when the boards of Suzuki and Nissan talk to continue or discontinue the contract on Pixo aka A-star. For more automobile news by email, sign up for our free email newsletter.
