The 2014 Volskwagen Polo facelift has been spied again, this time the changes made to the interior have also been spied. Check the photos put below:

What’s New?

We have already talked about the changes made to the outside in a previous update (13th February 2014), the latest photos shows that the Polo may get new paint options, or at least this new orange paint option.

The interior shots show that Volkswagen has made changes to the interior of the car, though they seem minimal. There is a brand new steering wheel, with new button layouts. The centre console gets matte-silver surround, breaks the monotony of the black plastics used on the upper dashboard and the centre console. That’s it.

What do you think of the changes made to the Volkswagen Polo? Let us know in the comments section below.

According to a report, there is a possibility that Volkswagen India could launch the Polo facelift in India pretty soon, in fact as soon as July 2014. This is an aggressive plan from the company, if it turns out to be true. The biggest change in the new Polo will be the addition of a 1.5-litre diesel engine and the addition of at least one DSG-equipped diesel variant. You can check out more details in the earlier updates below.

We will keep you informed about developments on the Polo facelift, keep following Car Blog India.

The 2014 Volkswagen Polo facelift has been spotted in India by a reader of IndianAutosBlog.com. It is slightly different from the Polo facelift that will be launched in other markets though. Check out the spy shots below:

1) Front: Changes are limited to the new headlights with twin-lighting elements (which are similar to the units found on the last-gen Polo sold in Europe) and silver insert , new fog lamps, new front bumper which is more sculptured than before and gets a new silver element that mimics the one in the headlight unit, a new grille.

2) Interior: Photo is not clear, but from what we can see there are no changes.

3) Rear: Changes are limited to the new bumper with a more pronounced area around the number plate holder and new reflectors. The test mule seems to be the GT TSI variant.

Check out the photos of the 2014 Volkswagen Polo facelift revealed for other markets here:

What are the differences?

1) The international model will get optional LED daytime running lamps, which Volkswagen India may or may not offer (the latter seems more probable).

2) The lower profile tyres found on the international model may not make it here. It will be offered with 15, 16 and 17-inch alloys based on the variant abroad, while in India we may have to be content with the 15-inch wheels. This is not exactly a bad thing as the ride will be more comfy on the standard tyres, but those who want a bit more of style will have to go for aftermarket wheels.

3) The international model gets a slight facelift on the inside too, which the test mule spied in India does not have. we may not get updates like a different shifter, redesigned three-spoke steering, new instrument cluster etc.

4) At the rear, the international model gets LED tail-lamp elements which have not been offered in India.

Updated on 23rd September 2013

Check out the spy shots below:

A new front bumper, headlights and tail-lamps as well as new features inside are expected as the cosmetic changes which the Volkswagen Polo facelift will receive. The most important change though, will be that the Polo facelift will be offered with a 1.5-litre TDI motor in the May of 2014 as per the latest reports. This engine will come in two different states of tune; 89 BHP and 104 BHP. After the arrival of this motor, VW might just phase out the current diesel engines on offer.

The current diesel engine powering the Volkswagen Polo is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, in line engine which produces a maximum power of 74 BHP @ 4200 rpm and a maximum torque of 180Nm @ 2,000 rpm. There is also a 1.6-litre TDI motor on offer (that powers the Polo GT TDI) that develops a maximum power of 105 BHP and a peak torque of  250Nm which is more than sufficient to satisfy your hunger for performance. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Volkswagen’s Polo series has done very well in India so far and we can hope that the new launch will boost the sales even further. The car is expected to arrive in the market in the first quarter of 2014.

What do you think Volkswagen should introduce in the upcoming Polo facelift? Let us know in the comments section below.

Dear Writer, Thanks for this vital information on Polo 2014 tests in India. I wanted to know from you if you are sure this is the 1.5L TDi. Im asking this because just today I have booked the 1.6L TDi. If the cosmetic changes are limited to photographs that you have provided, then I think I have not made a mistake in booking the 1.6L option, since the changes are very subtle and not like the one made for other markets especially Europe.

  • motusid

    Hello,

We are sure that Volkswagen will introduce the new Polo with a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

    Hope this helped.

  • baba

Having said this and me being a novice when it comes to physics – can you help me understand though 1.6 and 1.5 are expected to share the same output of 105 Bhp and hopefully the same torque ( can you guide on torque ) , are these both necessarily the same engine options or there could be some difference that I need to understand.

For the sake facial face-lifts , I dont want to loose out on a good engine like the 1.6 Tdi on the polo.

  • zamborghini green

hello ,even im little worried since i booked the same gt tdi today .when i asked the sales team ,they responded they dont have any idea about it…so my concern is the same as yours.

Advantages of the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

    1) The 1.5-litre diesel engine will help in terms of mileage.

    2) It will also make the new Polo cheaper, as the car would adhere to the GOI’s 4-metre car definition and attract lower excise duty.

    Hope this helped.

  • baba

    Thanks, this helped.
But , in terms of performance , refinement and all aspects of the engine – will the 1.5 Tdi be better or at par with present 1.6 Tdi.
Price is not the question as far as i’m concerned.
Even the present 1.6 Tdi I hear is giviing good results 17/15+ in city and 20+/22+ on highway. do we expect the 1.5 Tdi to better than this ?

Besides, the test mule in India does not show much of interior facelift as per your photos on the article. Do you have some information on this ?

I know im nagging too much. but more clarity will really help.

  • motusid

    Sorry for the late reply.

The 1.5-litre engine will be more refined, will deliver more in terms of fuel-economy (factors like better engineering and lower weight help) and may even be better tuned for performance too (though power and torque figures are not expected to change).

We do not have any new information about the interiors of the new Polo till now, we will let you know. We expect minor changes only, just to add.

    Hope this helped.

  • Rishi

Hello! i booked petrol comfortline. Am i right? please tell me about engine, safety and comfort part…

  • Venkatesh Muthusamy

I am planning to buy polo diesel Highline model this week. Will the 1.5 Litre engine facelift holds good only for GT models or all the models. If all the models go for facelift I can wait and buy the new model. Please reply ASAP

  • motusid

The new 1.5-litre diesel engine will be introduced across all variants, it will not be restricted to the GT.

    Hope this helps.

  • motusid

It is a very good choice Mr. Rishi. The Polo is a very good car, the engine is refined and powerful, the Polo is highly rated in terms of safety (4-stars in global Global NCAP) and the interior is spacious.

    What are you worried about?

  • Rishi

just came to know JAZZ is launched in Thailand. current polo is being facelifted. JAZZ was my choice ..

  • Venkatesh Muthusamy

Thank you very much for your timely reply. But Volkswagen sales representatives from Bangalore and Salem are telling that the facelift will be applicable only for GT models. Please give me a suggestion. My Dad is aged 63 and i am gonna buy polo for him. Shall i go ahead and buy the current diesel highline model or wait for the facelift model? how much time I have to wait? What are the additional features that are coming with the facelift model for sure based on recent news ?

  • Rishi

Hello ! please clarify: Polo comfort line vs sift ZXi (petrol).. therer is curret price diference of 45 k after discounts. As Polo is offering 55 + corporate and free seat cover and parking sensor(that is extra 20 k , so altogether 55+2+8+8 k discount on polo. Swift wont provide any I guess except 5 k discount. Now worry about maintenance cost of polo is there. I would keep the car for 5 yrs.. sapce wise i am ok with polo and swift too. My family doesnt like ritz cos of look, though i am ok. which car would be costlier after 5 yrs of owership and by what margin.

  • RACHU MUDHOL

Is new VW Polo GT TDI is coming up with DSG gear box ?
Help me out which gear sift is good to driving pleasure manual or DSG dear box?

  • Anjany

    Hello,

I was almost through with the booking of POLO Highline Petrol with jaw-dropping discounts and deals. However, this news stalls everything.

I have a very important doubt. Will the facelift take POLO out of my budget (which is 7.5L). I have extended my budget from 6L, so further extensions would be impossible.

Also note that I can go for a comfortline in the facelifted POLI if it come within 7L-7.2L.

Your inputs will be very very helpful.

    Thanks

  • Jim

Today, (June 29) I was sold a Polo Comfortline 1.2L petrol by VW dealer. I repeatedly asked him if it was the 2014 version. He said yes. It will be delivered tomorrow. Is it the 2014 facelift version?

No, it is the older version car manufactured in the year 2014. You were not clear with the question and he was not honest with the answer.
