Ford has started building up to the official unveiling of the Endeavour in China by releasing teaser images of the production ready version of the SUV. As seen in the picture the teaser image doesn’t reveal much except for the headlamp and part of the grille which looks exactly the same as the concept showcased earlier. The 2015 Ford Endeavour is slated for an official reveal this month on 14th November.
As reported earlier the styling of the SUV is expected to remain largely the same as the concept which looks large and chunky with big, fat tyres. The thin horizontal headlamps with a large EcoSport like trapezoidal front grille make for a very smart looking front end. The boot carries a thick chrome strip flanked by tail lamps in the conventional position unlike the previous models high mounted ones. The interiors are inspired by the Ford’s bigger trucks such as the F-150 with a chunky 4-spoke steering wheel as seen in the spy shot.ย The vehicle will be a 7 seater and judging by the size of the SUV it should be able to do so quite comfortably. Multimedia features such as Ford’s SYNC will also be featured on the 2015 Ford Endeavour.
The 2015 Ford Endeavour is built on a ladder frame chassis making it a proper conventional SUV with the optional four wheel drive on offer. There will be two engines on offer- a 2.2 litre diesel and a 3.0 litre diesel with the option of choosing either a manual or an automatic transmission. The rear suspension set-up on the new car is different as it ditches the old model’s leaf spring suspension for coil springs and a torsion beam resulting in higher levels of comfort and better ride quality.
While Ford’s compact SUV the EcoSport has been selling in great numbers its larger sibling, the Endeavour has lost out to competitors such as the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The company will be hoping to change that with the 2015 Ford Endeavour but the pricing, which unknown as of now, will have to be competitive. India will have to wait for the big SUV till next year when it will be launched at an expected price of around Rs. 25 lakhs.
