The 2017 edition of the bulky Mahindra Scorpio is now available at a discount of Rs 1.1 Lakh. As the new 2018 Scorpio is launched, a lot of dealers are left with the stock of the older Scorpio.

Mahindra Scorpio, one of the most lovable 7 seaters in the market, recently got a facelifted version. As a result, the pre-facelift 2017 version is now available at a discount of Rs 1.1 Lakh. 2017 Scorpio priced between Rs 9.9 Lakh to Rs 16 Lakh before discount. Dealers are still left out with the inventory of the pre-facelift Scorpio. For clearing the stock they are offering huge discounts.

The pre-facelift version was launched in November 2017. As Scorpio upgraded, the design updates were minor, it came with a more powerful mHawk diesel engine. Both the pre-facelift and the facelifted Scorpio is powered by a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine. The new Scorpio comes with 20BHP more powerful engine and a new 6-speed manual gearbox. However, the more powerful engine is available only in the top end variants and rest are available with the same old 120BHP diesel unit.

The biggest factor working here is that the latest facelift doesn’t look too different from the model it has replaced. The new Scorpio gets a new grille, which can be retrofitted on to the earlier version. While it also gets an updated bumper, new taillights, and an updated tailgate, these changes are hardly significant. The interiors are fitted with reverse parking assistant and new upholstery which can be easily fitted afterward too.

On the other hand, facelift Mahindra Scorpio seems to be working very well. The Scorpio actually outsold cheaper priced compact SUVs by a large number. In March 2018, Mahindra sold a whopping 5,905 units of the Scorpio. Ford sold 5,344 units of the EcoSport Facelift and Tata sold 4,405 units of the Nexon. Scorpio is outselling much smaller and cheaper SUVs which highlights the popularity of the car in the market.
