The facelifted Kwid will compete with the likes of upcoming Maruti Suzuki S Presso. The new design will help to boost sales of the hatchback and will include new features too on the inside.
The Kwid has been in the market for long now and it is one of the highest-selling cars from the Renault in India. But Renault Kwid needed a facelift which was long overdue and several spy shots of the hatchback were seen in 2019 but the images were not in complete flesh.
And now a recent image is surfacing on the internet of the uncamouflaged image of the upcoming hatchback. The design inspiration is taken from the K-ZE electric car which is available in the global markets.
The 2019 Renault Kwid facelift sees a completely new front fascia. It gets split headlight design, LED DRLs, new grille design with triple slats, like seen on the Renault Triber.
The side profile looks more or less the same when compared with the ongoing model. The hatchback also receives new gunmetal alloy wheels and sees Climber written on the front door.
The Climber is the top-model in Kwid’s line up and gets all the bells and whistles which are available. This edition also adds a bit of sportiness with the availability of faux skid plates in the new bumper for both front and rear. Also, it will also receive orange accents on the front and rear skid plate, orange ORVMs and headlight surrounds.
The rear profile of the hatchback sees few changes like the tweaked taillights and vertically placed reflectors. The Renault logo is placed in the middle just like it comes with the current-gen.
The details on the interiors of the upcoming hatchback are still not known but we expect some minor changes to the cabin and inclusion of latest technologies in the car. It will also borrow its equipment from the Triber.
An all-digital instrument cluster can be expected along with a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new steering wheel along with the addition of features can be seen in the upcoming car.
Mechanically, the Kwid will come with both petrol motor, the 0.8L – which churns out 54 bhp and 1.0L which churns out 63 bhp. Both the engines expected to be BS6 compliant. Transmission option will continue with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT.
The facelifted Renault Kwid will compete with the likes of Maruti’s new hatchback, S Presso. The latter uses a 1.0L engine and will offer the same transmission as in WagonR.
The prices of the facelifted Kwid is expected to be premium than the current generation. Currently, the hatchback is priced at Rs 2.88 lakh for the base trim and top model fetches for Rs 4.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
