2019 Triumph Speed Twin Launched In India – Prices and Details

Triumph Speed Twin makes its debut in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 9.46 Lakhs, it is a modern classic styled similarly to the Street Twin.

Triumph has launched the more powerful modern classic, Speed Twin in India. It is priced at Rs 9.46 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It looks similar to the Street Twin but gets a bigger engine, minor visual differences and some more features.

Speed Twin borrows its engine from Thruxton cafe racer. The 1200cc liquid-cooled 8-valve parallel-twin engine is meant for cruising. It produces 96 BHP at 6750 RPM and 112 Nm at 4950 RPM.

The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with ride-by-wire throttle. It also gets torque-assisted semi-automatic clutch. At higher RPMs, you can switch the gears without using the clutch.

For suspension purposes, the Speed Twin uses 41mm cartridge forks and twin-shock absorbers with adjustable preload at the rear. The front and rear suspension travel stand at 120mm.

Speed Twin uses twin 305mm discs at the front with Brembo 4-piston calipers and a single 220mm rear disc with Nissin 2-piston calipers. Dual-ABS is offered as standard fitment.

Standard features offered onboard include ABS, Switchable Traction Control, Ride-by-wire, Riding Modes (Sport, Road and Rain), LED tail light, USB Power Socket, Trip Computer, Immobiliser and Tire Pressure Management System.

The motorcycle weighs 196 kgs, which is nearly 7 kgs lighter than Thruxton. the fuel tank capacity is 14.5 Litres. Triumph Speed Twin claims to offer a fuel economy of 20.8 kmpl, which should deliver an expected riding range of 250-270 kms.

Speed Twin is offered in three colour options – Korosi Red/Storm Grey, Silver Ice/Storm Grey and Jet Black.

Triumph is also offering up to 80 accessories on this bike, including touring seats, visual upgrades, alarm system, exhaust system and much more.

Triumph Speed Twin competes with Kawasaki Z900RS and BMW R nineT. It is much cheaper than its rivals, which go for Rs 15 Lakhs and Rs 17.45 Lakhs, respectively.
