Mahindra Thar Armada 5-door Interior Revealed

Mahindra Thar Armada 5-door Interior Revealed

The 5-door Mahindra Thar Armada has been performing road tests for a long time now as we get clear glimpses of the cabin in the latest spy media.

The interior space and cabin layout of the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar Armada have been leaked in the latest spy video. 5-door Thar aims to remedy the two prominent issues with the 3-door avatar – ingress and egress characteristics for the passengers, as well as boot capacity. The 5-door model possesses a long wheelbase which translates to more legroom and a bigger luggage compartment. For now, let us get into the specifics of this latest case.

5-Door Mahindra Thar Armada Rear Space Revealed

The details of this spy media emerge from The Car Show on YouTube. The visuals capture the entire layout of the cabin. The biggest talking point has to be the space in the rear compartment. While there is no concrete way to measure the exact legroom, it certainly feels larger than the 3-door iteration. Also, one can even see the electric sunroof and a free-standing large touchscreen infotainment display at the front, a chunky steering wheel, round AC vents and a ton of space between the front seats for storage. The rear door handles are mounted on the side pillars.

Now it will be interesting to see which powertrains Mahindra equips the 5-door Thar with. We already know that it will share its underpinnings with the Scorpio N. In addition to that, I also feel like it could have the same engine and transmission combination as well. The more powerful iterations of the existing engines would ensure enough compensation for the added weight. Hence, we could see the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel mills in their more potent avatars. Performing the transmission duties will be manual and automatic gearboxes and the sophisticated 4×4 configuration will ensure incredible off-roading capabilities.

Our View

5-Door Mahindra Thar Armada has to be the most eagerly-anticipated off-roading SUV in our market for a long time now. The spy media has been capturing the test mules from all corners of the country for a long time now. This includes the high reaches of the Himalayas for hardcore and extreme weather testing along with the highways of our nation. The Indian auto giant wants to make sure that the SUV carries the DNA of the regular Thar, which has been an iconic off-roader for ages. More details will emerge at the launch ceremony.
