The 3-row sporty MPV now gets tons of modern amenities, including the latest design language inspired by Kia’s global lineup
In my recent review of the new Kia Carens Clavis, I came across a few elements which could have been better. Nevertheless, I must mention that it is still one of the most feature-packed products in its price range. Also, without too many direct rivals, it can attract a whole bunch of new car buyers. We know that the Korean auto giant equips its vehicles with all the latest bells and whistles to pamper the consumers. It has taken things to the next level with the Carens Clavis, in comparison to the regular Carens. For now, let us see the things which it misses out on.
5 Features I Missed in the New Kia Carens Clavis
- No CNG – The first miss on the new car is the lack of a CNG option. Now, it might not be a deal breaker because Kia offers the Carens Clavis in the diesel version. Hence, people looking for a low running cost alternative to petrol can go for diesel. However, in places like NCR, where diesel cars are banned beyond 10 years due to emission norms, CNG is generally a popular alternative.
- Few Hard Plastic Bits on the Inside – Now, while the overall cabin is quite premium and full of the latest gadgets and gizmos, there are a bit hard plastic parts which feel a bit out of place. I particularly found the area between the front seats with hard plastics, which is in contrast to the otherwise impressive cabin.
- No Rear Ventilated Seats – You might know that the new Syros gets rear seat ventilation. However, it is a bit strange to not offer it in the new Carens Clavis. In a country like India, having ventilated seats is a boon. Therefore, I believe it was a missed opportunity on Kia’s part to not offer it in the Carens Clavis.
- Boot Space – Again, this is something that will only be an issue when you are travelling with the entire family of 6-7 people on long journeys. The 216-litre boot space is just not enough. Having said that, this is actually decent storage when compared to 3-row vehicles. Also, with the rear seats down, there is a cavernous space to fit huge luggage.
- No Top Trim in Diesel – Finally, the top diesel Carens Clavis misses out on the fully-loaded HTX Plus version. Now, this might be intentional so as to keep the costs in check. Also, it is possible that the MPV could get it at a later stage. In any case, you don’t have it on offer today.
