BS6 Honda Unicorn 160 Launched; Price Starts At Rs 93,593

Honda has launched the BS6 compliant Unicorn 160 in India. The popular workhorse gets a bigger 160cc engine with a couple of new features.

Honda has launched its another BS6 model now. India’s one of the most popular workhorse, the Honda Unicorn now gets a BS6 compliant engine. Not only that, now it is the Unicorn 160 with a bigger engine onboard.

BS6 Honda Unicorn 160 comes in a single variant, priced at Rs 93,593 (Ex-showroom). In comparison to the BS4 version, it receives a price hike of Rs 13,000. This huge price difference is primarily attributed to the engine change.

It now runs on a 160cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine. The power figures are yet to be revealed officially. The engine is tuned to deliver good low-end torque and higher fuel efficiency. The bike now gets counterweight balancer which helps in reducing the vibrations.

There’s just a single feature added onboard, including the engine start-stop switch. BS6 Honda Unicorn 160 is offered in three colour options – Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic & Mat Axis Gray Metallic.ย 

Mechanically, there are not many changes made. It continues to run on telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. Braking is handled by a disc brake at the front with drum brake at the back paired to single-channel ABS as standard.

The ground clearance of the bike has been improved by 8mm. The seat is also longer than the BS4 version, by 24mm. Further, Honda offers a special six-year warranty package (three years standard + three years optional extended warranty).

All things coming down to just one big issue now. With these prices, Honda Unicorn now competes with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ V3, Suzuki Gixxer and the Hero Xtreme 200R. Earlier, the price gap between theme was a lot more than Rs 10,000. But now, it is just a couple of thousands. Being the most popular in its class earlier, now it competes with highly popular sporty commuters.
