The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has been transformed in a non-commissioned rendering into a sporty looking middleweight sportsbike
Royal Enfield came up with the Interceptor back in 2018 and its first-ever parallel-twin for our market has found decent success among those looking for an affordable twin-cylinder motorcycle with loads of retro charm. Indeed, the Interceptor looks quite classy and impresses with its clean, old-school look. However, we have once again come across a concept that adds a full-fairing to this motorcycle and makes it look completely different from the stock model. Created by ABIN DESIGN’S, the renderings help one visualize a sportier version of the streetnaked RE with a full fairing that completely transforms its visual identity.

As seen above, the Royal Enfield Interceptor SS concept has been visualized in three shades and it looks pretty sweet regardless of the bodywork’s colour. The full-fairing of this concept has a pretty modern look that is in a stark contrast to the retro-style unit with round headlamps and a rounder windscreen that we’ve seen so far. The addition of the windscreen should make the motorcycle a lot more aerodynamic and even help the rider duck down to save himself from the wind blast at high speeds. Even the fuel tank has been re-modelled and looks sleeker than the one on the stock motorcycle. Finally, even the seat has been redone and has a stepped-style unlike the flat seat of the regular model.
Being merely a figment of an artist’s imagination, this bike is just a visual update over the stock model. The illustrator hasn’t specified if he would his creation to carry any performance updates. In its stock format, the motorcycle produces a maximum power of 47 bhp @ 7,250 RPM along with a peak torque of 52 Nm @ 5,250 RPM. The same engine even powers the 650 Cafe Racer and in both the cases, it comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a slipper clutch. As per Royal Enfield, 80 percent of the peak torque generated by the engine is available from just 2,500 RPM while the torque output follows a flat curve till 5,250 RPM.

In its stock format, the Royal Enfield Interceptor is capable of hitting a top speed of 160 kmph along with offering a mileage of 25.5 kmpl (claimed). The lower coefficient of drag due to the inclusion of the fairing is sure to have a positive impact on bot the above parameters.
