Indian roads are filled with all sorts of craziness. That said, some of this madness is often pretty inspiring. Quite often we have seen vehicles used for purposes they were not intended for. Now, new images of a Tata Punch have surfaced online. It is being used as a makeshift cargo vehicle. In an attempt to save money, a Tata Punch owner overloaded his with 700 kgs of cargo. While this does not look safe he claims that the car offers 18 Kmpl of mileage. As you can see in the images below, the Punch has been filled to the brim with cargo.

Tata Punch Loaded with 700kg Oranges and Papayas
The SUV-styled hatchback is among the most popular small cars in the Indian market. It is clearly not intended to carry cargo. However, such technicalities did not stop this Facebook user who shared the images of his personal vehicle online with the caption, “700 KG load 125 KM trip getting 18 km/l mileage. Maruti’s mileage is just hype. Trust our Tata Motors Cars”. The owner of the Tata Punch has filled his car to the brim with multiple wooden and plastic crates. These carry almost 700 kgs of oranges. Additionally, the owner also packed some Papayas in any empty space he could find.
As seen in the shared images, the Tata Punch is almost entirely stuffed with cargo. There is hardly any pace left in the rear seats and hatch. However, the owner managed to keep the front two seats empty. This is clearly not a safe thing to do and can lead to extremely dangerous situations. However, the owner seemed oblivious to this. On the other hand, he bragged about the car’s mileage and shared a picture of his instrument cluster as well. While the mileage of 17.9 kmpl is quite impressive, the micro SUV is not supposed to be used as a cargo vehicle.

Usually, such incidents are often ignored and easily pass under the radar. However, the netizens were quick to point out the carelessness of the Tata Punch owner. Some even made jokes at his expense. However, it is to be noted that passenger vehicles are designed to carry people. Only a limited amount of luggage can be handled without any complications. It does not matter how safe a car is if it is not being used for the intended purpose. Also, ultimately your safety lies in your own hands and conscious actions.
Tata Punch received five stars in the G-NCAP safety ratings in 2021. It scored 16.45 out of 17 in the adult safety rating and 40.89 out of 49 for child safety. The G-NCAP crash test was done at a speed of 64 km/h. It was noted that the bodyshell integrity and footwell areas are stable. Safety features on the base model of this small car include dual-front airbags, ABS, and ISOFIX anchors for mounting the child seat.
