The next generation 2024 Tata Nexon could be underpinned by the ALFA architecture and feature IMPACT 2.0 design language that is seen on the Harrier

Tata Motors jumped into the sub-compact SUV bandwagon with the Nexon back in 2017. Even though the Tata Nexon wasn’t an immediate best-seller, it has, with time, managed to outsell popular rivals like the Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue. Now, though, it looks like the carmaker is working on a comprehensive update for one of its most successful cars ever. A digital illustration that has been embedded below visualizes the new model with the carmaker’s latest design language.

2024 Tata Nexon Design & Styling

A heavily camouflaged test mule that was seen recently reveals a silhouette that’s pretty similar to that of the existing model. But what all that camouflage has successfully concealed is a more modern styling language for various soft parts. Taking a cue from the Harrier, the upcoming model will feature a split headlamp setup. The multi-tier lighting arrangement will feature hood-level DLRs and headlamps at a lower level.

The revised façade should help the compact SUV with a higher street cred. Even the rear could see a refreshed styling package with connected taillamps and, probably, a sleeker hatch-door. The coupe-ish form factor, which has been carried forward from the current model, will lend a pretty sporty appeal to the side profile. Inside, the Maruti Brezza-rival could have a revised dashboard holding a 1025-inch touchscreen infotainment system sourced from the Tata Altroz Racer Edition. Even the instrument cluster could be carried over and would hence feature a semi-digital layout.

Specs

In all likelihood, the 2024 Tata Nexon will ditch the archaic X1 platform for the modern ALFA architecture. Powering the new model will be the carmaker’s new 1.2-litre TGDi direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine. The three-cylinder motor will output 125 hp and 225 Nm. This will be a healthy improvement over the current engine’s 120 hp and 170 Nm. The current model’s 1.5-litre turbo-diesel option is likely to be retained, albeit, with minor tweaks. In its current state, this oil-burner produces 110 hp and 260 Nm. Even the transmission options will be carried over, which means the new model will be sold with 6-speed MT and AMT units.
