People Standing Out of Sunroof

Having sunroofs in cars can be a dangerous thing as seen in this video clip.

In this video, people are standing out of the sunroofs on VW Virtus, Hyundai Creta and Verna. We know how Indian customers love sunroofs. In fact, that is the reason why some carmakers (Maruti Suzuki) have decided to introduce this feature on their cars despite saying that it will not do it. Also, car companies have introduced the feature of a sunroof even in the mid-level trims of their cars. But no one talks about the safety aspects related to the misuse of sunroof. This latest case is a prime example of that. Read the details here.

People Standing Out of Sunroofs of Cars

The post has been shared by manju_official2323 on Instagram. It captures a group of people in cars like VW Virtus, Hyundai Creta and Verna. It looks like they are travelling on some broken and tiny road which could lead to the outskirts of a city. It is perilous to see so many people sitting on the top out of the sunroof. It is quite strange and cringy to see people doing such acts on the roads. This can turn fatal in no time. One can see in this video that they are even overtaking each other & driving carelessly.

We would like to advise our readers to never do such stunts on the roads. Sunroofs are not meant for people to stand out of when the car is moving. It is designed to let light in so that people don’t feel claustrophobic inside the cabin. If you want to get fresh air or enjoy the views of the mountains, you must stop the car and then stand out of it. Doing so while moving is unsafe and can result in terrible injuries to people if the driver suddenly has to press the brakes. This is because there is no seatbelt to hold the people in place.

Is It Legal?

Then there is the issue of whether it is legal or not. As per Motor Vehicle laws, if a person stands out of the sunroof of a moving car, he/she is blocking the view of the driver of the car behind it. This doesn’t allow that driver to get a clear view of the road ahead. Hence, the chances of collisions increase. Moreover, while turning curves and hard acceleration and braking, the passengers are in danger of flying out of the car. That has happened on multiple occasions and people have suffered grave injuries as a result. Therefore, you must avoid such scenarios at all costs.
