Identified as one Varnika, the culprit shot reels sitting on the bonnet of an old Tata Safari in a bridal attire in a posh locality of Prayagraj

It looks like the lunacy of social media users wonโ€™t stop anytime soon. Many Youtube and Instagram users are often found performing dangerous and completely nonsensical stunts to garner attention and grow their subscriber base. Alarmingly, these wannabe influencers often overstep the legal boundaries and the recent case from Prayagraj is yet another example of this worrying trend. In a bid to create an Instagram reel, a bride sat on the bonnet of a Tata Safari moving through a posh locality.ย

Videos on Tata Safari Shot in Posh Civil Lines Area

The video, which has been shot in the posh Civil Lines area, was quick to go viral and come under the scanner of the local Police. Fortunately, the blatant violations of traffic rules wasnโ€™t taken lightly by the cops and two challans were slapped on the culprit.ย On investigating the matter, the police found out that one Varnika of Allapur area shot a few videos sitting on the bonnet of the Tata Safari SUV in a bridal attire over a week ago. Not just this, but she was even found to have shot videos riding a scooter inย ย a similar attire without wearing a helmet a few months ago. Springing into action, the cops issued two challans of a cumulative value of Rs 16,500.

While a challan of Rs 15,000 was issued for riding on the bonnet of the moving Tata Safari, another challan of Rs 1,500 was issued for not wearing a helmet when riding the scooter. Sub-inspector Amit Singh who investigated this case has said that the SUV videos were shot near the All Saints Cathedral on May 16. Meanwhile, the videos on the scooter are about a couple of months old and were shot around the Chandrashekhar Azad Park.

Viewers Mimic Such ‘Influencers’

Reacting on the case, the Police claims to have written to YouTube to suspend channels that promote such illegal activities. It’s noteworthy that Youtube and Instagram have gained enormous popularity among the Indian youth. Many social media users who perform such dangerous stunts to create viral content enjoy a following of millions. While such videos get millions of views, they even end up encouraging the viewers to mimic such activities. Hence, the nuisance created by such so-called influencers is wide-spread. Not only do we urge our readers to exercise caution when consuming such content but even request the Police to identify such content creators and book them as per the law.
