Hyundai Ioniq 4 Rendition

This compelling digital illustration of the Hyundai Ioniq 4 could easily rival the mighty popular Tesla Model 3. Now, while this is just a rendition, we can analyse the case it could make to rival the most affordable Tesla at the moment. Hyundai is emerging as one of the top global auto giants to establish domination in the EV space. Its Ioniq 5 has already bagged the title of the Best Car of the Year last year. Moreover, the Korean giant also offers the Ioniq 6 sedan with enticing specifications. The Ioniq ‘Seven’ is next in the pipeline as a large electric SUV. But we shift our focus to the opposite end of the spectrum with a compact version of the Ioniq 6. Let us dive into the details.

This appealing digital rendition comes from nymammoth on Instagram. The visuals capture a stunning avatar of what the Ioniq 4 could look like. At the front, it bears the LED strip which runs the width of the car. I like the way the LED DRLs / fog lamps are designed and positioned on the extreme edges of the bumper. There are contours on the bonnet, perhaps for better aerodynamics. The large closed-off grille area looks futuristic and there is a sporty red lining on the edges of the bumper.

The side profile is even more attractive. The first aspect that grabs attention is the sleek camera-based ORVM setup. It also contributes significantly to the overall aerodynamics of the EV. Then there are elegant alloy wheels with low-profile tyres for spirited driving dynamics, a sloping roofline toward the rear completing the coupe-like silhouette, adventurous side body cladding and a slightly broader rear profile. All in all, this could be a great competitor to the Tesla Model 3 if it ever makes it to production.

Author’s Note

The Tesla Model 3 is currently priced at $38,990 in the USA for the rear-wheel-drive variant. If Hyundai were to launch something like an Ioniq 4, it would have to offer it around this price point. Moreover, it could easily borrow the electric powertrain and battery from the mighty successful Ioniq 5. It carries a 72.6 kWh battery pack producing a decent 217 PS and 350 Nm of peak power and torque. Based on the E-GMP architecture, the Ioniq 5 supports 350 kW DC fast charging allowing an 18-minute charging time for 10-80%. It has an ARAI-certified range of 631 km on a single charge. Let us keep an eye out for something like an Ioniq 4 in the times to come.
