Tata Punch EV

The Punch EV now operates on a dedicated pure EV architecture, offering buyers a choice between two battery pack options – a 25 kWh and a 35 kWh. The smaller battery pack provides a range of 315 km (MIDC), while the larger one extends the range to 421 km on a single charge. These batteries feature two e-Drive options – a 60 kW (80 hp) PMSM AC with 114 Nm and a 90 kW (120 hp) PMSM AC with 190 Nm peak power and torque. This results in a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 140 km/h.

Both the battery pack and electric motor have an IP67 rating, ensuring resistance to water and dust. For added assurance, there is an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty. In the Long Range (LP) version, buyers have the option of a 3.3 kW and a 7.2 kW AC fast charger, as well as a 50 kW DC fast charger. Using the latter, the EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes

Author’s Note

Both these electric micro SUVs have their distinct attractions. On one hand, you have the Tata Punch EV. It carries the popularity of the ICE Punch with the addition of a new platform and many modern features. There is the option of choosing between two battery packs, as per one’s needs. On the other hand, the Citroen eC3 also has a definitive appeal just like its ICE counterpart. But it must be said that it is great for those on a strict budget. If you can compromise on some features, it makes sense. Otherwise, the Punch EV is the one for you.
