Hyundai Creta N-Line Acceleration Test

Hyundai Creta N-Line Acceleration Test

We got the opportunity to test drive the new Hyundai Creta N-Line and performed the acceleration test. The Korean carmaker has launched the N-Line version of the Creta at an attractive starting price of Rs 16.82 lakh, ex-showroom. It even comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, in addition to the sporty 7-speed DCT. For this acceleration test, we had the latter. It is generally considered the best for sporty and enthusiastic driving. Let us see how much time it took for the SUV to reach 100 km/h and 120 km/h from a standstill.

First things first, we switched the settings in such a manner that the vehicle demonstrated its full potential. Hence, we switched off the AC and turned the Sport Mode ON. That unleashes the full potential of what the 1.5-litre turbo engine can offer. Then we pressed the accelerator pedal hard and kept our focus on the road ahead. Our equipment was able to record the entire footage. It registered a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 9 seconds. Similarly, the Creta N-Line was able to offer a 0-120 km/h acceleration time of 12.16 seconds. That is mighty impressive for a mid-size SUV.

Specs

The N Line iteration of the new Hyundai Creta is equipped with the robust 1.5-litre turbo petrol direct injection engine, boasting an impressive output of 160 PS and 253 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine, which is shared with the standard Creta and Verna models, is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox in the N Line trim. Designed to appeal to driving enthusiasts, the N Line variant offers a recalibrated steering, exhaust, and suspension setup. It’s important to note, however, that the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines will not be available in this variant. The prices range from Rs 16.82 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh, ex-showroom.

Author’s Note

Our acceleration test and a detailed review is live on our YouTube channel. In summary, we can confirm that the mechanical tweaks to the suspension, steering and exhaust have made the entire driving experience more engaging than the regular model. But since the N-Line elevates the experience of driving only marginally, don’t expect a world of difference. That is also the reason why there is just a slight premium in the pricing over the regular model. We shall have to wait to witness how well people embrace the new Hyundai Creta N-Line.
