Australian Cricketer Ellyse Perry Breaks Window of Tata Punch EV

Ellyse Perry breaking the rear window of the Tata Punch EV has turned out to be a jinx-breaker as RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) are crowned the Women’s IPL Champions for this season. Note that RCB has had a terrible record in the Men’s section. It was yet to lift the IPL trophy in over 16 years of the IPL Tournament. That curse finally came to an end as the Smriti Mandhana-led team displayed a strong performance in this second edition of the Women’s IPL Tournament. They took down the Delhi Capitals in the final by 8 wickets.

Ellyse Perry Broke Tata Punch EV’s Window

In one of the previous matches, a viral moment occurred in the tournament. Ellyse Perry, an Australian batter, broke the window of the Tata Punch EV after she hit a huge 80-m-six against UP Warriorz. This took place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Punch EV was parked on the side of the boundary line as the official car of the tournament. The ball hit the rear window of the EV and broke the glass instantly. As a result, the batter was a bit afraid about the damage but the crown enjoyed it thoroughly. That incident has gone viral and many people are taking it as an auspicious omen which led to breaking the jinx of RCB never winning an IPL trophy even in the Men’s section.

After the tournament, there were images of Ellyse Perry circulating on the internet where she was awarded the broken glass as a trophy to remember this tournament. This particular image comes from autojournal_india on Instagram. She has had a great season and has been instrumental in RCB lifting the title. Note that this was the second edition of the Women’s IPL. It will be interesting to see how popular this league gets in times to come.

Tata Punch EV

The Punch EV boasts a pure EV architecture. It presents the prospective buyers with a choice between two battery pack options – 25 kWh and 35 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a range of 315 km (MIDC), while the larger one extends the range to an impressive 421 km on a single charge. These batteries come with two e-Drive options – a 60 kW (80 hp) PMSM AC generating 114 Nm of torque, and a 90 kW (120 hp) PMSM AC with peak power and torque of 190 Nm. As a result, the acceleration time is 9.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed is 140 km/h.

Both the battery pack and electric motor carry an IP67 rating. This ensures resistance to water and dust. For added reassurance, there’s an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty. In the Long Range (LP) version, buyers can opt for either a 3.3 kW or a 7.2 kW AC fast charger, along with a 50 kW DC fast charger. With the latter, the EV can charge from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes. Its price ranges from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
