Tata Nexon Old vs New Drag Race

Tata Nexon Old vs New Drag Race

This drag race between the new and old Tata Nexon is quite exciting. Nexon is one of the most popular compact SUVs in our market. It has been successful since its inception. Remember it was the first Indian car to score a full 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP back in 2018. Subsequently, the Indian auto giant made attractive changes to its styling in the current model along with modern amenities. Hence, people still buy it excessively. For now, let us get into the details of this drag race.

New Tata Nexon vs Old Model Drag Race

This video comes from Charlie Vlogs on YouTube. The YouTuber is driving the old Nexon which has around 40,000 km on it. On the other hand, his friend drives the brand new Nexon which has only been driven for about 600 km. For this race, both SUVs contain 2 passengers. On the count of three, the two drivers accelerate vehemently. They switch the Sport Mode on and the AC off. In this way, the full potential of both cars comes to the forth. During the initial phase, the new Nexon struggled to get off the line. As a result, the old Nexon maintained a lead throughout the race. In subsequent attempts, a similar trajectory followed. The old Nexon went ahead at launch but the new Nexon overtook it at high speed.

Specs

Since the new Nexon is the facelifted version of the old Nexon, there are no mechanical changes. Both these come with the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine which makes 118 hp and 170 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with either a 5-speed manual (in the base model of the new Nexon), a 6-speed manual, an AMT automatic or a DCT gearbox. The vloggers had the 6-speed manual transmission for this race. The prices of the current-gen model range from Rs 8.15 lakh to Rs 15.80 lakh, ex-showroom.

Author’s Note

YouTubers often adopt the method of drag race to analyze the performance of two cars. Note that this only takes into account the straight-line acceleration. In most real-life situations, that is not how anyone drives a car. Therefore, you must take these results with a pinch of salt and not come to any conclusion. Also, in favour of your safety and the safety of the car, we don’t advise you to perform such stunts with your personal vehicle.
