New Maruti Swift Vxi (O) vs Zxi vs ZXi+ Comparison

In this post, I shall compare the new Maruti Swift in its Vxi (O), Zxi and ZXi+ trims. Swift is the latest launch in our market. One of the most successful hatchbacks ever in India has just received a fourth-generation update. Since this is a generational update, there is an all-new Z Series engine which replaces the K Series mill which used to power the Swift for years. Having a detailed comparison between these three specific trims will allow you to make the best decision for yourself. So, let us get into it.

New Maruti Swift Vxi (O) vs Zxi vs ZXi+ Price Comparison

The first thing to keep in mind is the price. India is a price-conscious market. People base their entire decisions on how much money they are willing to spend. These three are mid to top variants of the Swift. The Vxi (O) model sells for Rs 7.57 lakh for the manual and Rs 8.07 lakh for the AMT, while the Zxi has a price tag of Rs 8.30 lakh for the manual and Rs 8.80 lakh for the AMT. Finally, the ZXi+ starts at Rs 9 lakh for the manual and goes to Rs 9.50 lakh for the AMT. For the dual-tone version, the ZXi+ trims command a premium of Rs 15,000.

There are not all the many distinctions between these three trims from the outside. Firstly, the Vxi (O) gets a halogen-based projector headlamp setup in comparison to the Zxi and Zxi+ variants which get LED projector headlamps. Also, only the latter two get LED DRLs while the Vxi (O) misses out on this feature. All these get different wheel configurations. The Vxi (O) gets 14-inch steel rims with wheel cover, the Zxi gets 15-inch painted alloy wheels while the top ZXi+ version comes with elegant 15-inch precision cut alloy wheels. Note that only the top Zxi version gets LED fog lamps. Apart from that, the common components include turn indicators on ORVMs, body-coloured ORVMs and door handles, roof antenna (micropole) and more.

This is where things get really interesting and slightly complicated. While people love to get the best deal and value-for-money products, modern customers also want the top comfort and convenience amenities in their vehicles. To cater to those segments of the populace, the largest carmaker in the country offers numerous connectivity, safety and comfort features. For instance, only the Zxi+ trim gets the coloured MID for the driver’s instrument cluster, among these three variants. Also, front foot illumination is also solely available with the Zxi+ version. I have listed out the features corresponding to each trim in the table below. This should be easier to read for our readers.

Specs and Mileage

The most exciting aspect of the new Maruti Swift is the new engine. Gone is the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K Series mill. It is now replaced with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z Series mild hybrid engine which churns out 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission duties are carried out by either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. This is available in all three variants. The mileage figure for the manual gearbox is an impressive 24.8 kmpl, while that for the AMT is a whopping 25.75 kmpl. That will be the main attraction for most car buyers.

Our View

Now choosing between these three can be slightly tricky. The main thing to consider is the kind of budget you are planning to spend and the features that you want in exchange. Note that the powertrain and transmission options and safety amenities remain the same in all these variants. Hence, the only aspect remaining is the balance between affordability and the latest tech and convenience features. Therefore, I would advise my readers to visit the dealership and experience the functions in the flesh to see which ones fit within your budget. In any case, you will get the performance and safety of the new Maruti Swift.
