In an unprecedented move, Suzuki has slashed the price of its recently launched GW250 Inazuma by a whooping 1 lakh ! Launched at almost Rs. 3.61 lakh, the sticker price has been reduced by a lakh rupees flat, with further Rs. 25,000 – Rs. 30,000 being deducted based on the city you buy it from. This move comes after Suzuki conducted a survey of sorts in their existing showroom across the country and realised that the steep price tag was the only thing putting away prospective buyers from the Inazuma. There have been only 200 units sold as of May 2014 since its launch in January – these 200 users are to be reimbursed the difference in new price as well – hence prompting this drastic measure by Suzuki.

Now talking about the Suzuki Inazuma itself, it is one of the most underrated bikes that we have in the country. In competition with the KTM 390 and Honda CBR250R, Inazuma with this new price tag is a much better buy. The Suzuki Inazuma is an extremely high-quality, well-finished motorcycle with a silky smooth engine thatย revs very fast and makes for a mind numbing comfortable cruiser. It is powered by a 248-cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine matched to a six-speed transmission. It is 2,145 mm long, 760 mm wide, 1,075 mm tall, with a seat height of 780 mm. A twin-cylinder motorcycle at the offered price is beyond imagination. The Inazuma throws away itsย competition out of the way. Theย Honda CBR250Rย does not stand a chance with quality issues and a single-cylinder mill. Whereas the Suzuki Inazuma is equal in terms of ย performance but a far more comfortable ride as compared to the KTM 390 Duke.

Suzuki already has one of the cheapest servicing and spare parts, they are present across various segments in two-wheelers and this move shows their commitment as to how important the Indian market is to them. We for one are glad and hope many more manufacturers get off their high horse and go the Suzuki way. With the KTM 390 Duke and Honda CBR250R already on streets and Hero HX250R and Yamaha R25 expected soon, the 250-cc segment right now is the place to be for two-wheeler manufacturers.
