Skoda Auto Volkswagen India hits 500,000 locally-made engines, boosting ‘Make in India’ and global exports with advanced, sustainable powertrain tech.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has reached a production milestone by manufacturing 500,000 engines at its Chakan plant in Pune. It’s noteworthy that the Chakan facility plays a crucial part in the Volkswagen Group’s global strategy. It produces powertrains not just for domestic use but also for export markets.

The latest milestone highlights India’s significance as a key production and export hub. SAVWIPL focuses on sustainability and advanced technology in its powertrain lineup. The 1.0-litre TSI engine comes with improved exhaust emission technology, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine features Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) for enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Since 2014, the company has been manufacturing engines with a strong emphasis on localization, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to strict emission norms. With continued investment in advanced manufacturing techniques, SAVWIPL remains committed to efficiency, sustainability, and expanding India’s footprint in the global automotive industry.

Commenting on the milestone, Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto a.s.
