The Czech car marque has been increasing its popularity courtesy of its MQB A0 IN-based products
Skoda Auto India just bagged its highest-ever half-yearly sales in India after a 25-year-long existence. The Czech auto giant has been having a decent time on the sales charts since the launch of the Kushaq back in 2021. This marked the ‘India 2.0’ strategy from the VW Group for the Indian market. Under this, it launched vehicles based on the heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform. The four most prominent cars with this platform include Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, VW Taigun and Virtus. Lately, the Skoda Kylaq also utilized the same architecture. These vehicles have resonated well with the Indian customers.
Skoda Auto India Achieves Its Highest-Ever Half-Yearly Sales
As per the official press release from Skoda, it managed to sell 36,194 units between January and June 2025. This marks a whopping 134% growth on a year-on-year basis in comparison to H1 2024. With this, Skoda enters the top 7 largest carmakers in the country. Note that the previous best for Skoda was 28,899 units in H1 2022. Nevertheless, the Kylaq, which was launched this year, definitely had a positive impact on the sales numbers. With it, Skoda aims to cater to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as well.
Not just that, Skoda has also worked on expanding its touchpoints so that the customers are able to experience its sales and service network. With just 120 touchpoints in 2021, it currently boasts 295 touchpoints. Impressively, the company is well on its way to establishing 350 touchpoints by the end of this year. This addresses the issue of accessibility for a whole bunch of interested buyers. Overall, as the sales increase and the after-sales network expands, the Czech auto giant is well set up for a healthy time ahead.
Speaking on the achievement, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said, “Our landmark half-yearly sales reflect the strong acceptance of Škoda products and services by customers in India. Our customers love to explore the world around them every day. With the addition of the Kylaq in our portfolio, we now enable their journeys even more through an ‘SUV For Everyone’, as well as our sedan offering. Our aim is to get ‘closer’ to our customers in India with our accessible products, services, and touchpoints across the country. This achievement encourages us to stay focused on being relevant through timely product actions, offer unique value to our customers by differentiating our product and service offerings, and to continue building trust with an unmatched ownership experience.”
