The Indian auto giant is planning a wide range of products for its upcoming Independence Day event
The Mahindra Vision T has been teased on the social media handles of the Indian SUV maker. In the last couple of years, it has become a trend for Mahindra to reveal enticing concepts and new technologies on the Indian Independence Day. Hence, even this time around, August 15 is looking packed with at least 4 new concepts – Vision T, Vision S, Vision X and Vision SXT. These concepts will likely embody the types of SUVs which will use the new Freedom_nu architecture. Let us glance at the details here.
Mahindra Vision T Partially Revealed
The teaser video consists of top-down views of 4 concepts, which will be showcased at the Independence Day event in Mumbai. Looking at the visuals, there are a few aspects that one can decipher. The bonnet looks upright and quite rugged. Also, there are pronounced wheel arches, fenders and bonnet hooks. The bumper looks quite sturdy and the off-roading tyres are evident too. Finally, the fact that there is a T in the name could, along with the aforementioned characteristics, indicate that it might be the electric iteration of the Thar. Note that we have seen that in South Africa on August 15, 2023.
Talking briefly about the other concepts, the Vision S could spawn a sibling of the Scorpio. At present, we have the Classic and N on sale under the Scorpio moniker. There might be the addition of a third avatar in this range. Then we have the Vision X, which could possibly bear some connection with the likes of the XUV700. Finally, the Vision SXT could be the combination of all these. For instance, we saw the test mule of the Scorpio N-based pickup truck a few months ago. Exact details will stem only on August 15.
My View
Mahindra seems to be preparing something big for this Independence Day. The anticipation around it is growing rapidly. The Indian auto maker is clearly working to expand its presence overseas. Countries like South Africa and Australia are key focus areas. With its new platform, Mahindra is aiming for more variety in future SUVs. This includes different powertrain options for different markets. That gives the company the freedom to adapt products as per local needs.
