Mahindra XUV700 Facelift or Electric Spotted

The XUV700 is about to receive a thorough facelift along with an electric iteration soon

In recent times, we have been coming across numerous spy images and videos of the Mahindra XUV700 facelift or the electric iteration. Due to heavy camouflage, it becomes a bit challenging to ascertain which one it actually is. In any case, the XUV700 has been the flagship ICE product for the Indian SUV maker for the last few years. It has completely altered the image of Mahindra from being a brand which makes utilitarian SUVs to one which now produces world-class products. The latest EVs are a great example which drives this point home.

We are able to glance at the specifics of this case courtesy of kurt_morris on Instagram. The visuals capture the heavily camouflaged SUV parked on the roadside. It is stationed at what looks like a parking space outside a restaurant. In any case, the front section reveals the silhouette of vertical slats on the grille, a sporty bumper and an upright bonnet. On the sides, we witness the prominent wheel arches along with alloy wheels. Finally, the tail end contains a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler and a relatively familiar profile with shark taillamps. Hence, it is certainly related to the existing XUV700.

In previous spottings, we could also get a glimpse of the inside. While not a lot of elements were visible, it is clear that it will be among the most feature-laden products in its class. That has been the case ever since its launch. We can expect large screens, panoramic sunroof, ADAS, comfort and convenience amenities, connectivity functionalities and a generous use of premium materials to pamper the occupants. Under its hood, it could carry on with the same powertrains as the current XUV700, including a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel mill. With the electric avatar, it remains to be seen which battery pack it will carry.

My View

At present, Mahindra has been basking in the glory of its immensely popular ICE and electric SUVs. Vehicles like the XUV700, Scorpio N, Thar and Thar Roxx have been contributing greatly to its expanding monthly sales. Additionally, the latest EVs – XEV 9e and BE6 – have also been able to gain the attention of potential customers. With the updated XUV700, things only look positive for Mahindra going forward. More details will emerge in the coming days.
