Mahindra Thar Roxx Owner Drives 11000 km Sales Rs 15,000 Toll

The new FASTag annual pass is designed for frequent travellers to give them some relief

In a rather unbelievable occurrence, a prominent YouTuber took his Mahindra Thar Roxx around the country for 11,000 km in just 25 days and saved Rs 15,000 in toll. We know that India is a vast landmass. Traversing across the nation in an automobile solo can be quite treacherous. Still, some driving enthusiasts have the courage and dedication to achieve seemingly impossible tasks. This latest case is a prime example of that. For now, let us delve into the details of this event,

Mahindra Thar Roxx Owner Saves Rs 15,000 Toll

This post stems from mechanical.jugadu on Instagram. He is a famous YouTuber with over 1.05 million subscribers. He keeps uploading creative content, along with some personal vlogs. On this occasion, he mentions that he recently went around the country to complete the holy pilgrimage of 12 Jyotirlinga and 4 Dham. As we all know, the Jyotirlingas are located in different parts of the country. To reach these solo by driving all over the country is not a mean feat. Nevertheless, the YouTuber ended up driving around 11,000 km in just 25 days.

That is an incredible achievement and definitely something which needs divine grace. However, I am more interested in the story he tells about the toll taxes. He purchased the recently launched annual pass by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It costs Rs 3,000 and allows some 200 trips across various toll plazas in the country for a duration of one year. It is great for people who frequently use highways with toll restrictions. As per his calculations, he claims that he ended up saving at least Rs 15,000 worth of toll. Note that he completed 119 trips as per the details shown in his annual pass. Apart from that, he also mentions that there are some tolls where one will still need to pay using FASTag. But those are rare.

My View

I appreciate the introduction of the annual toll pass by the government of India. It provides a huge relief to the car owners who used to spend a lot of toll taxes every single day. I believe the value the annual pass provides is simply unmatched if someone actually utilizes it to its full potential. Having said that, I understand that not everyone can travel so much just to avail of the value the annual pass brings. Still, it is a great convenience aspect to have since one won’t need to care about recharging it from time to time.

As someone who has spent years closely observing how infrastructure impacts mobility in India, I see the FASTag annual pass as a smart, user-centric move. Frequent highway commuters – especially business travelers and long-distance enthusiasts – stand to gain real value here. Rs 3,000 for 200 trips is undeniably a strong proposition in a country where tolls can quickly pile up. Of course, its true benefit will be felt by those who clock serious miles, but as a concept, this is a commendable step towards making highway travel more seamless and cost-effective.
