MG Majestor vs MG Gloster - Specs, Design, Features Comparison

The Majestor is yet another colossal SUV in the MG India portfolio, alongside the existing Gloster

In this post, we compare the MG Majestor and the MG Gloster on the basis of specs, features, design, etc. Note that the pre-bookings for the Majestor have commenced for a token amount of Rs 41,000. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Majestor is slated for launch in the coming weeks. In comparison to the Gloster, the Majestor is designed for hardcore off-roading scenarios. Apart from that, there are tons of new-age tech, connectivity and convenience amenities to pamper the occupants. For now, let us delve deep into this comparison.

New MG Majestor vs MG Gloster – Specs

The new MG Majestor carries a large 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel mill, which generates 215 PS and 478 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This mill is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. To make it accessible to a wide range of customers, the Majestor will be on sale in 2WD and 4WD guises. With the latter, there are 10 off-road modes to ensure that the vehicle is in the correct settings for all sorts of terrains. In Auto Mode, the vehicle intelligently operates in 2WD during regular driving conditions and automatically switches to 4WD the moment it detects loss of traction. There is also the Crawl Mode for extreme off-road conditions. Another first-in-segment tech is the Triple Differential Locks for front, rear and centre. As a result, the power and torque can easily be directed to exactly where they are needed.

On the other hand, the MG Gloster also comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine in two avatars – single turbo and twin-turbo. These generate a healthy 163 PS / 375 Nm and 218 PS / 480 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties is the same 8-speed automatic gearbox. Therefore, the twin-turbo models have the same engine and almost similar outputs. Nevertheless, the additional focus on off-roading situations with the Majestor gives it an edge in that regard.

Design and Dimensions

The exterior design clearly sets these large SUVs apart. The new MG Majestor looks more aggressive than the Gloster. At the front, it features slim LED DRLs at the edges connected by a light bar, a massive rectangular grille, and a prominent skid plate, while the main headlamp units are stacked vertically on the bumper. Along the sides, blacked-out pillars, faux roof rails, large alloy wheels, chunky matte-clad wheel arches, and sturdy side steps add to its bold stance. At the rear, a full-width connected LED taillamp, sporty bumper, roof spoiler, dual exhausts, and a strong skid plate complete the look. Its road presence is likely to grab plenty of attention.

On the other hand, the MG Gloster has a large, imposing stance with a premium and well-balanced design. Up front, the wide chrome grille and sleek LED headlamps give it a clean yet sophisticated look, while the skid plates and LED fog lamp housings add to the visual appeal. From the side, the 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, chrome window line, floating roof effect, and side steps highlight its luxurious character. At the rear, LED tail lamps, a bold Gloster badge across the tailgate, and twin chrome exhausts complete the look. Overall, the exterior clearly reflects its full-size luxury SUV positioning.

My View

Choosing between these two SUVs will depend solely on personal preference. While the MG Gloster carries impressive off-roading capabilities, it is still geared more towards people who prioritize creature comforts and the latest tech. On the other hand, the MG Majestor offers a feature-laden cabin and tech, but the off-roading equipment is its main attraction. In any case, we will get to know about the exact details regarding pricing, variants and features at a later stage.
