The upcoming electric SUV from the Chinese carmaker has commenced testing on our soil
In this post, we take a look at the details of the upcoming Jetour T2, which has been spotted performing road tests in India. For the uninitiated, Jetour is a Chinese carmaker under Chery. However, in India, the Jetour T2 will be launched under the JSW Motors banner. This is due to the collaboration between the JSW Group and a bunch of Chinese carmakers like MG and Chery. In the last few days, we have been witnessing unique videos of the Jetour T2. Also, its recent 5-star safety rating at ASEAN NCAP has been in the news. Now, the testing has started in India.
Jetour T2 Spied Testing in India
The video stems from motoring_world on Instagram. The visuals capture the camouflaged SUV riding on a busy road. At the rear, we witness the tailgate-mounted spare tyre along with a broad stance. On the sides, the large alloy wheels, side steps and pronounced wheel arches with solid claddings are evident as well. The boxy silhouette and the SUV demeanour vehemently suggest that this could be the new Jetour T2. We know what the SUV looks like since it is already on sale in some parts of the world.
The international model comes loaded with tech and convenience amenities. Some of the main highlights include panoramic sunroof, a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch driver’s instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, multi-purpose steering wheel, Level 2 ADAS, hill start assist, hill descent control and much more. In terms of powertrain options, the T2 is available in PHEV and EV guises. However, the Indian model will most likely get the 1.5-litre turbo petrol mill with a 26.7 kWh battery pack (PHEV) for a combined output of around 154 hp and 220 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The launch is slated for around Diwali 2026 and the price can range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.

From my perspective, the Jetour T2 entering India under the JSW banner is yet another indication of how global brands are increasingly viewing India as a critical growth market. Over the years, I have seen several new players attempt to crack this space, but success ultimately depends on pricing, localisation and after-sales reach. The T2’s rugged styling, strong tech package and PHEV powertrain could attract attention, but the real challenge will be positioning it correctly against well-entrenched SUVs from established brands. It will be interesting to see how aggressively JSW chooses to play in this highly competitive segment.
