The MG Majestor was first showcased back in January 2025, but it took over a year to reach showrooms
The new MG Majestor is the latest entrant into the popular 7-seat off-roading SUV segment led by the famed Toyota Fortuner in India. Note that the MG Gloster already exists in this space. In essence, the Majestor is a slightly more rugged offering to cater to a wide range of customers. In fact, its aggressive styling, new-age in-cabin amenities, powerful engine and hardcore off-roading prowess are some of the major reasons to consider it over the Gloster. For now, let us take a look at the details of what the new SUV is all about.
MG Majestor – Exterior Styling and Dimensions
As part of the media drive, I appreciated the appearance of the new MG Majestor quite well. The large SUV has a bold and aggressive design, which clearly sets it apart from the Gloster. At the front, it gets a more upright stance with a flat bonnet and a massive rectangular grille. The slim LED DRLs sit on top and are connected by a light bar, while the main headlamps are placed lower down in a vertically stacked layout. This gives it a strong and unique identity. The chunky bumper with black cladding and a prominent skid plate further adds to the tough look.
From the side, the Majestor looks large and muscular. There are blacked-out pillars, gloss black ORVMs and roof, along with faux roof rails. The wheel arches get heavy cladding and house 19-inch alloy wheels with a new design. The side steps and overall stance make it look like a proper full-size SUV. At the rear, the connected LED tail lamps stretch across the width of the vehicle. There is a roof spoiler and a sporty bumper with dual exhaust finishers. The skid plate at the back also enhances the rugged appeal. Overall, the MG Majestor has a strong road presence which is hard to miss. Its colossal dimensions are confirmed by the table below:
| Dimensions (in mm) | MG Majestor |
| Length | 5,046 |
| Width | 2,016 |
| Height | 1,870 |
| Wheelbase | 2,950 |

MG Majestor – Specs and Driving Impressions
The MG Majestor comes with the immensely powerful 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which generates a mammoth 215 PS and 478.5 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. This mill is paired with a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. Note that, unlike the Gloster, there is no low-powered single-turbo option with the Majestor. Buyers can choose between a 2WD and 4WD configuration. Hence, there is a version of the Majestor for all sorts of buyers.
The Majestor is available with a double wishbone independent front suspension and a 5-link integral suspension at the rear. This ensures plush ride quality even on the rough terrains. That makes the occupants feel comfortable and at ease even on treacherous surfaces. However, it causes the large SUV to possess a fair bit of body roll. Despite the twin-turbo setup, the turbo lag at low RPMs is quite evident. Nevertheless, once you are past 2000 RPM, the power delivery is strong and engaging. Overall, the SUV is fun to drive with some serious off-tarmac characteristics. One could argue that it is capable of giving the Toyota Fortuner a run for its money.
| Specs | MG Majestor |
| Engine | 2.0-litre Diesel (Twin Turbo) |
| Power | 215 PS |
| Torque | 478.5 Nm |

Having observed this segment closely for years, I can say the MG Majestor is a serious attempt at challenging the long-standing dominance of the Toyota Fortuner. What stands out to me is MGโs clear focus on combining brute road presence and off-road capability with a feature-rich, tech-loaded cabin, something Indian buyers increasingly value. While the Fortuner still holds an edge in brand recall and resale, the Majestor makes a strong case with its sheer equipment list and powerful twin-turbo diesel. In my view, for buyers willing to look beyond badges, this is easily one of the most compelling alternatives in the full-size SUV space today.
