Honda is about to introduce the ZR-V as a CBU in our market on May 22, 2026
In this post, I am comparing the specifics of the upcoming Honda ZR-V and Jeep Meridian on the basis of specs, price, features, etc. Note that even though the ZR-V is yet to launch in India, we can safely assume its details from the international model. This will be an interesting occasion for Honda to compete against the heavyweights in the premium SUV category in India. Being a full import, the prices will be in the vicinity of Rs 50 lakh. On the other hand, the Jeep Meridian is also among the premium offerings in our market. For now, let us glance at the details of these two SUVs.
Honda ZR-V vs Jeep Meridian – Specs Comparison
Since we don’t know the exact specifications of the Indian-spec model, we will go with what the international model comes with. Based on the Honda Architecture (HA), the latest ZR-V boasts a potent 2.0-litre petrol engine with a hybrid setup for maximum efficiency. The peak power output of this mill is a healthy 180 hp. Performing transmission duties is an e-CVT automatic transmission for a smooth operation. It also gets the all-wheel-drive configuration for those occasional off-tarmac excursions. Therefore, buyers will be able to take advantage of a powerful engine with a smooth transmission.
On the other hand, the Jeep Meridian is powered by a single 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, which develops 170 hp and 350 Nm of peak power and torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic transmission. This is the same powertrain setup which also does duty on the Compass. The top variants additionally come with a capable 4×4 system, enhancing its off-roading credentials. This allows the Meridian to tackle challenging terrains with relative ease. Hence, those who want the ultimate comfort with decent off-roading prowess would generally opt for the Meridian.

Having observed the premium SUV space evolve over the years, I believe the Honda ZR-V will target a very specific set of buyers in India. Its hybrid powertrain and refined driving experience could appeal to urban customers who prioritise efficiency and sophistication over hardcore off-roading ability. On the other hand, the Jeep Meridian continues to play to its strengths with rugged capability and a more traditional SUV character. In my view, this comparison perfectly highlights how the premium SUV segment in India is diversifying rapidly to cater to very different customer expectations.
