The BYD Atto 2 is set to rival the Tata Nexon EV in our market. BYD has gained a lot of customers in India in the last couple of years. For the uninitiated, it is one of the biggest NEV (New Energy Vehicle) players on the planet. Even in India, it has launched products across various segments. As a result, it is gaining popularity steadily. However, with the upcoming Atto 2, it will be able to cater to a large set of audience. In this space, it could take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, etc. Let us check out the details of what we know so far.
BYD Atto 2 Spied Testing in India
The fresh spy images capture the camouflaged electric SUV in India. Even though the exterior is concealed, we are able to deduce which car it is by the BYD logo at the front, the sleek LED DRLs integrated inside the LED taillamp cluster and a familiar front end. Note that it draws inspiration from the existing Atto 3. On the sides, it looks like it gets flush-fitting door handles, elegant alloy wheels, prominent wheel arches, etc. Finally, the tail section showcases a connected LED lighting setup and a flowing bumper. In any case, the exact details will emerge in the coming days.
While there are no details pertaining to the interior, we can make a logical calculation about what it will offer based on the same model on sale in some international markets. Hence, some of the main in-cabin amenities might include a rotatable 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, ambient lighting, electric sunroof, ADAS, etc. Knowing what BYD offers, the potential consumers can be assured that the tech features will be aplenty.
Expected Specs and Price
For the markets abroad, the BYD Atto 2 is available with two battery pack options – a 45.1 kWh and a 51.1 kWh. These supply power to the electric motor at the front axle, resulting in a healthy maximum power output of 176 hp. Furthermore, these are good for a claimed range of 410 km (NEDC) and 312 km (WLTP) on a single charge. This configuration results in an acceleration time of 7.9 seconds for a sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h. Also, the top speed is rated at 160 km/h. Finally, the expected price is around Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom. More details about the Indian-spec model will surface in the coming weeks.
