Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ combines striking design, AI-powered tech, Formula E influence and BaaS to offer a premium EV experience around ₹20 lakh.
The Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ makes an interesting case for buyers who want a premium electric car experience without necessarily paying for a traditional luxury badge. With the BE6 SPORTEQ priced from ₹19.45 lakh with its 59kWh battery, Mahindra is bringing technology, visual drama and personalisation that would not look out of place in considerably more expensive EVs.
While it would be unfair to call it a luxury car purely on brand positioning, what the SPORTEQ does challenge, however, is the idea that sophisticated EV technology needs to command luxury-car money.

Design That Looks Anything But Conventional
The BE 6 was already among Mahindra’s most visually adventurous products, and SPORTEQ builds on that personality. There are 12 colours, including Rosso Impulso, Ruby Velvet, Graphite Storm and Firestorm Orange Satin. The special Formula E Freedom Edition goes further with motorsport-inspired detailing, satin finishes and tricolour accents.

The result is important because premium appeal starts long before you look at a specification sheet. The BE 6 has the proportions and road presence to make a statement.
Technology That Really Punches Above Its Price
From the TWO variant onwards, SPORTEQ gets a coast-to-coast three-screen cockpit. More significant is what sits behind those displays. Mahindra’s MAIA architecture powers six TEQ Suites. TEQ_Talk, built with Google Gemini, uses 17 specialised AI agents and supports more than 100 core functions and 48 apps. There is also Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, in-car gaming, Private Audio, personalised user profiles and a CCC-compliant Digital Car Key ecosystem supporting multiple devices.

TEQ_Secure adds features such as Secure360 Pro with live view, audio relay and intrusion alerts, giving the technology package a useful security dimension as well.
Performance Gets a Formula E Connection
The performance-focused SPORTEQ Formula E Freedom Edition gets an exclusive race car-like Acceleration Boost function, with Mahindra claiming 0-100km/h in just 6.44 seconds. It also retains the original BE 6’s two-screen, halo-style cockpit for a more driver-focused flavour.
BaaS Changes the Value Equation
Then comes BaaS. The BE 6 SPORTEQ starts at ₹11.45 lakh under Battery-as-a-Service. Basically, BaaS uses a dual-financing structure, with the vehicle and battery financed separately. Crucially, it isn’t a pay-per-use programme. The ₹3.75/km figure is an effective usage cost, while the dual-financing structure helps lower the initial purchase barrier and manage monthly outflow.
Who Should Consider the BE 6 SPORTEQ?
The SPORTEQ makes the strongest case for someone who values design, technology, personalisation and performance, and is looking for a premium EV experience at a more accessible price point.

It doesn’t magically become a European luxury car because it has three screens and AI. What it does demonstrate is how rapidly the gap between mainstream premium EVs and traditional luxury cars is narrowing. And at around ₹20 lakh, that may be the BE 6 SPORTEQ’s most disruptive quality.
