Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), the countryโ€™s largest passenger car exporter and second largest car manufacturer has announced aย price increase across all its models. The Hyundai India price hike comes at the back of an increase in cost of components and a weak currency among other reasons.ย Commenting on the price hike, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, โ€œIn these challenging market conditions, we are constrained to consider the price increase on account of factors like increase in cost of components, weak rupee etc. The proposed price increase up to Rs. 30,000 will be effective from January 2016 across all models including Elite and Creta.โ€

This year, Hyundai India plans launched the i20ย Active,ย Verna Fluidic facelift and the Hyundai Creta, which has turned out to be a runaway success in the domestic market. Hyundai’s plans for 2016 aren’t very clear as of now, but the manufacturer has confirmed that it is working on an MPV to rival the Maruti Ertiga and it could be launched by the end of next year.

There could be other launches from Hyundai in the form of facelifts for existing products, such as the Santa Fe. Also, the Korean auto giant could bring back the Tuscon to India in its latest avatar which is on sale in international markets.
