Honda City gets manual transmission in ZX variant and six airbags!

Honda City is now available with a manual gearbox for top-end ZX variant in the petrol guise with the addition of six airbags and several other features.

Honda Car India have today introduced a new variant to the line-up of its popular c-segment sedan, City. The new variant is essentially the already existing top-spec ZX trim which now comes with a few extra kit along with the addition of a manual transmission for ts petrol trim. Honda has announced that the prices for this new top-spec, petrol manual variant of the City is going to be INR 12,75,000 (ex-showroom).

The top-end ZX trim, before this, was available with a 1.5-litre petrol i-VTEC and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. However, the petrol derivative was only available with a CVT automatic gearbox and a 6-speed manual transmission. Alongside the introduction of a manual gearbox, Honda has added several new pieces of equipment to the tally of the City. In addition to this, the sedan now also comes with a set of two new colour options, these are Radiant Red Metallicย andย Lunar Silver Metallic.

The top-spec ZX trim of the Honda City will now offer 6-airbags. These include dual-front airbags along with front side and curtain airbags. In addition to this, the automaker has made rear parking sensors as standard across the range. Buyers now opting for the top-spec ZX manual trim can now have LED daytime running lamps, LED headlamps, LED tail-lamps along with automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers among other premium features.

The Honda City has been one of the largest selling vehicles for the Japanese automaker in our country. It currently competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Yaris. There have been rumours that Honda has commenced working on a next-generation iteration of the City sedan. There are speculations that Honda might introduce this vehicle on the global scene by the end of this year itself. And hence, bringing it to India by early next year.
