Aprilia SR 300 Max

Aprilia SR 300 Maxi-scooter has been spotted at Piaggio’s annual dealers meet in Goa. If launched, it will be the most powerful scooter in India.

Maxi-scooters are not very popular in India, primarily because many people do not know about them. Suzuki Burgman Street is an example, but it is also a semi-maxi scooter.

Aprilia has showcased its SR 300 Maxi-scooter at the Annual Dealer’s meet. It is a funky looking touring scooter with a rather large wheelbase. These types of scooters are usually quite popular in the European markets.

Aprilia SR 300 is also available in the Chinese market in a partnership with a local Zhongsen Motors. Even the Aprilia RS 150 which was spied, is only available in the Chinese marke.

Aprilia SR 300 gets the proper maxi looks with a tall adjustable windscreen, a huge front apron and dual headlamps in the front. It gets a step up single seat, which seems to be quite comfortable.

Features onboard include a 9-inch TFT instrument cluster, bluetooth connectivity, Dual Projector headamps and an HD Action camera, packed between the headlamps.

Aprilia SR 300 Maxi-scooter uses a 278cc single cylinder engine that puts out 21.6 BHP and 23 Nm of peak torque.

Mileage expectations of the scooter are around 22 kmpl. With a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres, we can expect a riding range of more than 300 kms on a full tank.

For ssuspension purposes, SR 300 uses 35mm telescopic forks at the f ront and 3-way adjustable twin-shock absorbers at the back.

Aprilia SR 300 uses a 260mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm disc at the back. It also gets ABS as standard fitment.

Now coming to the India launch, there is no idea about its debut in India. In a competitive and price-oriented market like India, such scooter is likely to perform in large numbers.

People are still not familiar with the concept of 300cc motorcycles, then where does a 300cc scooter stand?

If it launches in India, expect it to be priced around Rs 1.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
