Benelli TRK 251 Adventure Motorcycle Launch In India To Happen In 2020

Benelli has indicated that it will launch the TRK 251 Adventure motorcycle in India by next year to rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan and BMW G 310 GS.

Benelli has launched four new motorcycles after its new partnership with AARI, including the TRK 502, Leoncino 500, Leoncino 250 and Imperiale 400. Benelli will continue its aggressive launches with two new motorcycles set to launch next year.

At the media test ride eent, Benelli officials confirmed that a mini version of the TRK502 is also headed towards India. The quarter-litre adventure motorcycle is being considered and could debut by the end of this year.

Benelli TRK 251 was unveiled at the 2018 EICMA in the production form. It is a scaled-down version of the TRK 502, but still looks very capable. It might be one of the most affordable ADVs in India.

Benelli TRK 251 comes with a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine. The engine is able to deliver 25.8 BHP and 21.2 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Also, Benelli has confirmed that the TRK 251 will their first BS-6 product in India. The emission norms are scheduled to kick in from April 2020. To avoid a long procedure afterwards, it was decided to launch the ADV with an updated engine.

Currently, only a couple of motorcycles including the Jawa are equipped with BS-6 engine. After the inclusion of updated engines, the prices of the two-wheelers will considerably increase.

For suspension purposes, Benelli TRK 251 will be equipped with 41mm Upside-Down forks and Swingarm with Central Shock Absorbers. Braking will be handled by front and rear disc brakes with switchable dual-channel ABS.

Features onboard expected include Halogen projector headlamps, LED DRLs, split seats, luggage carrier, large windscreen and a fully digital TFT colour display cluster.

Benelli TRK 251 will squarely go up against Royal Enfield Himalayan. The RE bike is currently, the most affordable adventure motorcycle in India. It is priced at Rs 1.87 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

With an expected price of around Rs 2 Lakhs, it will not just attract the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan, but also of the upcoming KTM 390 Duke and slightly more expensive BMW G 310 GS.
