The Mahindra Bolero will be updated in accordance with the required safety and emission regulations that come in effect starting April this year.

The Mahindra Bolero, the largest selling model for the homegrown automaker is going to get safety equipment such as ABS, high-speed alert, driver and passenger seat belt warning along with rear parking sensors.

The introduction of ABS (Anti-lock braking system), which prevents the wheels from locking under heavy braking situation will be done on the Bolero this month itself. This is because it has become mandatory for all cars on sale in India to have this feature starting April this year. The deadline for the rest of the safety features mentioned above has been set for July 1, 2019.

However, the Mahindra Bolero will have to undergo a major update in terms of its design and structure in order to meet the crash-test regulations which come in effect starting October 2019. In this, the vehicles will have to meet certain criteria set in case of full-frontal impact, front-offset impact and side impact. Also, vehicles need to meet guidelines set for pedestrian protection. This would mean a raised bonnet height and a softer front bumper.

it is expected that all these above-mentioned changes along with the introduction of the safety systems will be done on the Mahindra Bolero facelift, set to launch in India ahead of October 2019.

Apart from all this, the Mahindra Bolero will also undergo a heart transplant. This is going to see this SUV get a BS-VI complaint diesel engine ahead of the April 2020 deadline. Mahindra is going to upgrade the existing 2.5-litre unit to meet the emission regulations instead of plonking in a different engine in order to keep the prices of the end product as low as possible.
