Toyota to sell rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India soon

In addition to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota is also going to sell the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz across its dealerships as well.

The global partnership between Suzuki and Toyota is taking shape at a fast pace. This week, Toyota released a press statement highlighting the various points of collaboration between the two companies. This partnership is going to see the two Japanese auto giants come together for the exchange of technological expertise, in conventional as well as alternative powertrains. In addition to this, the two companies are also going to supply each other with certain models.

Suzuki’s Indian arm, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, is going to supply Toyota with the Ertiga MPV. In addition to this, it is also going to supply Toyota with the Baleno, Vitara Brezza and the Ciaz.

So far it has not been confirmed as to when the Toyota badged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be sold in the Indian market. The Ertiga recently underwent a major generation update. In this, it came with an all-new platform, new design and a completely new design for the interiors. It even got a brand new 1.5-litre petrol engine which replaced the ageing 1.4-litre unit.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is soon going to get a new 6-seater variant. Media reports state that this new iteration will get some additional styling tweaks. And will be sold through Maruti’s Nexa dealership outlets.

Not only this, but the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is also going to get an all-new diesel engine added to its line-up. The engine in question is a 1.5-litre unit. It has been developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki. First, this engine will be launched in the BS-IV configuration. And later will be upgraded to meet the BS-VI emission regulations.
