Tata Altroz EV to launch in India by September next year- Report

The Tata Altroz EV made its global debut this month at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the ALPHA architecture and will cost above INR 10 lakh.

At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors stunned us all with the unveling of the Altroz hatchback. Based on the all-new Alpha architecture, this vehicle is going to launch in India this year. It will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20.

Another major attraction from the pavilion of the homegrown automaker was the all-electric version of the Altroz hatchback. Yes, Tata Motors is also going to launch an all-electric version of this vehicle in India. When? Well, the launch of the same is likely to take place by the month of September next year.

In terms of design, the Altroz EV looks quite identical to its ICE sibling. The only major difference come at the front where it skips the use of a traditional grille for a more seamless design. All the rest of the specifics, like the headlamps, bumpers and other body panels remains the same.

As far as the interiors of this electric vehicle is concerned, they are expected to remain identical to the standard car as well. Also, it will match it in terms of its onboard equipment list. It is likely that the Tata Altroz EV comes as a single variant. And that it is based on the top-spec trim.

Considering this, features such as projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control are likely to make an appearance.

So far, we do not have any confirmation regarding the powertrain specifications of the Tata Altroz EV. However, it should ideally offer a decent driving range. Prices of this vehicle might fall above the INR 10 lakh mark. in addition to this, Tata Motors is also working on an all-electric version of the Tata Nexon for the Indian market.
