The New gen Honda Jazz is scheduled to debut at the Tokyo Motorshow in October.

Honda Jazz has been quite a premium hatchback from the manufacturer and offers a sense of space, comfort and practicality to its buyers. What it lacked was the sense of styling but now that too will overcome with the New Jazz which will make its global debut in Tokyo this year.

Honda will also add a type-R to the new Jazz which tops the styling and performance game ahead of its rivals. The new gen Jazz gets revamped exteriors and interior. For starters, it gets a large headlamp unit with LED projector lights and LED DRLs. Front bumper, fog lights and the lower air dam get honeycomb mesh styling.

The side profile of the car looks more or less the same as the current gen. The Type-R shown here offers some added sportiness like side skirts, bumpers, larger alloy wheels, roof mounted spoiler and a red Honda logo.

The rear profile of the car cannot be seen, expect revised LED tail lights with restyled bumpers. The interiors of the new Jazz will also see a revamped dashboard design with a new steering wheel. A floating touchscreen and an instrument cluster will be making its way. The hatchback will be able to make more boot space and shoulder space for passengers.

The Jazz Type-R will sport a 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor which makes 220 bhp. While it is not sure if the performance-oriented Type-R of Jazz will come to India, it is expected that the company will bring on the new Jazz.

This is how the current gen Jazz looks.

It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol motor and a 1.5-litre turbocharged i-DTEC diesel engine. Both the engines will be BS-VI compliant and transmission options will include 5 and 6-speed gearbox for both petrol and diesel respectively. Automatic Jazz will include a CVT gearbox for smooth transmission.

The next generation of Honda Jazz will go on sale next year, however, the India launch can be expected in 2021 only. Noticing the sales figure of the Jazz, some reports also say that the premium hatchback will be discontinued from the Indian market.

If it gets launched in India, expect a premium of Rs 40,000 – 50,000 from the current gen. Currently Honda Jazz starts at a price point of Rs 7.53 lakh for the base trim to Rs 9.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza and Volkswagen Polo.
