New Maruti Grand Vitara Spotted – Will Go Against The Hyundai Creta & Tata Harrier

New Maruti Grand Vitara is likely to debut next year in India. Some of the key highlights that might come with upcoming SUV are Adaptive Cruise Control, Keyless Entry, Blind Spot Monitoring System and more.

In this emerging market of SUVs, manufacturers are bringing in products with loaded features, performance and styling which suit the buyers need. Maruti Suzuki is one such brand which changed the game of compact SUVs segment with the Brezza. And now to fill the gap of mid-size SUVs which comprises of popular Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier, the new Grand Vitara could fall in the place.

The new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be a 5-seater SUV which will boast of tech gizmos making it technically smart and refreshed interiors so it also competes with the upcoming Kia Seltos, the latter was unveiled globally in India a few weeks back.

In terms of dimensions, it measures 4,175 mm in length, 1,755 mm in width and 1,610 mm in height. The wheelbase is at 2,500 mm and the ground clearance measures 185 mm. Interestingly, it is quite similar to the Grand Vitara which used to comes earlier as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

Internationally, Maruti Grand Vitara is made available in a variety of powertrain ranging from 1.0L TO 1.6L. There is a 1.0-litre Boosterjey SZ5 AllGrip which churns out 140 bhp and a peak torque of 220 Nm; a 1.6-litre VVT petrol which generates 117 bhp with 156 Nm.

There’s an oil burner 1.6-litre too which produces 120 bhp and a healthy torque of 320 Nm. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox for this spec. Considering its rivals, the power output for the diesel will increase a bit in Indian markets and will get an all-wheel-drive system.

This particular test car caught sported a black paint scheme and does not carry the Suzuki badging at the front grille and rear profile. Also, the SUV is devoid of the six-horizontal chrome slat grille. The SUV sits on 17-inch alloy wheels and gets circular fog lamps.

The cabin inside gets an all-black theme, circular AC vents on top of the dashboard and a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit. The latter is in kept in mind to compete with the likes of MG Hector and the upcoming Kia Seltos.

Although the test mule sees some of the elements missing, the design still, however, doesn’t feel production-ready yet. The 1.4-litre Boosterjet with six-speed automatic transmission can be expected upon its arrival and all engines will be BS6 compliant.

We expect the prices of New Maruti Grand Vitara to fall between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Some of the highlights which the SUV is likely to carry are the 4×4 AllGrip system, bigger multi-information display, Blind Spot Monitoring, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Electric Sunroof, Keyless Entry and Adaptive Cruise Control.
